Sixty-eight new jobs at Williamtown RAAF base

SERVICE CONTRACT: A multi-million dollar contract to service Hawk Lead-In Fighter planes similar to this one is expected to create 68 jobs in the Hunter Region.A new multi-million dollar contract with BAE Systems Australia will create jobs in the Hunter Region, including 68 positions at RAAF Base Williamtown.

A $126 million defence contract is an expansion of the in-service support contract for the Hawk Lead-In Fighter to include operational maintenance.

The Hawk Lead-In Fighter prepares qualified Air Force pilots for operational conversion to F/A-18A Classic Hornets and F/A-18F Super Hornets and into the future Growlers and the Joint Strike Fighter.

The government announced the contract change on Friday, which will create 116 jobs nationally.

Paterson MP Bob Baldwin said the contract was a great outcome for the defence industry in the local area.
