A Mildura man aged in his 50s died on Sunday afternoon after his motorcycle collided with a tree on a dirt track near Magnum Avenue about 1.30pm.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said the man was given CPR at the scene before being taken with head and chest injuries to Mildura Base Hospital, where he later died.
Mildura police highway patrol Leading Senior Constable Nigel Hoyle said investigators were
taking statements from multiple witnesses to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Ldg Sen-Constable Hoyle said possible contributing factors such as speed, fatigue, and alcohol would be considered as part of the routine investigation process, and a mechanical inspection unit from Melbourne would analyse the man’s motorcycle.
The weekend incident was the fifth fatal motorcycle in Sunraysia since early last year.
Police said the incident was a timely reminder for riders to ensure they wore proper riding gear and rode with a friend if they went off-road.
